p.3 Up to the 17th ult., 109 vessels had passed through the Welland Canal, and the tolls amounted to £5230. Messrs. Baird and Killaley, the Engineers appointed by the Directors, commenced the survey of the present line and surrounding country on the 15th ult. in order to ascertain whether a new line be advisable or not on any part of the route.
