p.2 An unfortunate accident happened yesterday forenoon to one of the men belonging to the steamer Beaver. They were engaged in shipping a milestone on board of the boat, and by some means lost command of it, and it fell, catching the man's leg and crushing it to a jelly. He saw it falling, and stepped back to avoid it, but was tripped up by a board on the wharf, and the stone fell upon him, rendering amputation above the knee necessary.
