169x13x7 Owned by J. Whitney. Built by W. Hicks, Granville N. S. 1847. Engine by Fawcett Preston & Co., Liverpool England. Bay of Fundy passenger vessel. Wrecked 07/10/53 Gull Rock, Pictou County N. S., 11 killed. Tiller ropes broke in storm, broached to; hull weakened by stranding short time earlier. Captain charged with murder for deserting passengers. Trial quashed because of irregularities in jury selection.
