p.1 Port Hope Harbour - The Company have at last contracted with Messrs. Cotton & Howe, to remove either 6 or 8000 cubic yards of soil from each side of the wharf, to the depth of 12 feet. The distance between the end of the wharf and the rock between the piers, is more than sufficient to admit the largest steamer on the lake. We understand that the Company have made proposals to the contractors for other improvements, but have not yet learned if accepted. The Dredge is worked by six horses, and clears from 100 to 130 cubic yards daily. [Adv.]

p.2 The Excursion - the Queen grounded below Gananoque, and excursionists had to return on another boat.

The Navigation of the St. Lawrence above Montreal - a letter to editor from "An Upper Canadian" - doesn't want reciprocity on the lake and river - "the poly-wag doctrine of no transhipment being now pretty much exploded."
