Perry and Elliott- The pamphlet lately published at Washington, reflecting on the character of Capt. Elliott, of the Navy, is republished in some of our papers. It consists of a letter from Com. Perry to the Secretary of Navy, apologizing for the necessity he is under for calling a court martial on the conduct of Capt. Elliott, during the battle of Lake Erie, and explaining how it was that in his official report of that action he had been induced to speak favorably of Capt. E. Then followed the charges and specifications at considerable length, which, if sustained, would prove gross cowardice, and other unworthy conduct on the part of Capt. E. It is probable, however, that we shall see some counter statements, and perhaps eventually an official examination and report.
