XXIX - NO. 7 APRIL 1997 MEETINGS Saturday, May 10th - Annual Dinner Meeting. Please see details below. * * * * * * * THE EDITOR'S LOGBOOK Our March Meeting was most enjoyable. Capt. Alain Gindroz presented an extremely interesting look at piloting, and we learned about some of the difficulties of handling salties in lake canals and ports, and the vary ing conditions to be found aboard them. We thank Alain for his efforts, and we also thank all those members who brought marine materials to be sold for the benefit of the Society. The Annual Dinner Meeting will be held Saturday, May 10th, aboard JADRAN which is moored on the east side of Toronto's Yonge Street slip. Parking is available in two lots just east of the ship. The bar will open at 6: 00 p. m. and the five-course dinner will be served at 7: 00. Our speak ers will be Frank and Nancy Prothero, of Port Stanley, who will present more "Tales from the North Shore of Lake Erie", a programme which should prove enjoyable for members and guests alike. Tickets cost $29. 95 per person, which is an excellent value because it includes all taxes and gratuities, and the food aboard JADRAN is of high quality. Please send your early remittance to our Chief Purser, and when paying please specify whether you would prefer a fish or chicken dinner. Cheques should be payable to Toronto Marine Historical Society and sent to William R. Wilson, 173 Glenrose Avenue, Toronto, Ontario MAT 1K7. Tickets will be held at the door for all those who have reserved. AFFILIATED WITH THE MARINE MUSEUM OF UPPER CANADA ISSN 0318-014X
