XXXI - NO. 7 APRIL 1999 MEETINGS Saturday, May 15th - Annual Dinner Meeting. Please refer to details below. * * * * * * * THE EDITOR'S LOGBOOK Having made it through the "Big Snow" of early January without missing our meeting, and with February a non-event in respect of weather, we were lul led into a false sense of security. Then came Saturday, March 6th , and the "Golden Horseshoe" of Ontario was blanketed in the white stuff. Members in the Niagara and Hamilton areas were snowed in, and that included our spea ker, who was coming from Hamilton. Transportation in Toronto was a mess, too, so we had no alternative but to cancel the March Meeting, as much as we regretted doing so. We hope that Capt. Ralph Tucker will be able to come to a future meeting so that we may enjoy his presentation. The Annual Dinner Meeting will be held Saturday, May 15th, aboard JADRAN, which is moored on the east side of Toronto's Yonge Street slip. Parking is available in two lots just east of the ship, and there is ready access via the T. T. C. (Bay bus or Harbourfront/Spadina streetcar south from Union Station to Queen's Quay and then walk one block east). The bar will open at 6: 00 p. m. and the five-course dinner will be served at 7: 00. Our spea ker will be David Wright, of Heritage Cruise Line, operator of GEORGIAN CLIPPER. His programme will be "Passenger Cruising on the Great Lakes in the New Millenium", which should prove enjoyable for members and guests. Tickets are Canadian $29. 95 per person and, as usual, guests will be most welcome. Please send your early remittance to our Chief Purser and specify whether you would prefer a fish (turbot) or chicken dinner. Cheques should be drawn payable to the Toronto Marine Historical Society, and sent to ISSN 0318-014X
