XXXII - NO. 9 MID-SUMMER 2000 MEETINGS Friday, October 6th - 8: 00 p. m. at the SWANSEA TOWN HALL. Our annual Autumn Slide Night. Members may bring up to fifteen slides each to illus trate their summer shipwatching activities - or anything else marine that may come to mind. Let the imagination run rampant! * * * * * * * THE EDITOR'S LOGBOOK Having been economically evicted by Heritage Toronto when that august body placed its fiscal policy ahead of its responsibility to help preserve Toron to's marine history, we found a convenient and economically-friendly new home last year at the Inn on the Lake, which became the Four Points Sheraton after completion of its major refurbishment. But having become established, that hotel has turned its back on those who helped sustain it in its first year. To continue meeting in The Maple Suite, we would have had to pay almost four times what we were charged last year! We appealed and were shut down. All Your Editor can say is that we hope members will remember this when they may be choosing a hotel at which to stay or schedule a function in future. Due to the hard work of committee member Gordon Turner, however, we have lo cated a new home in which we hope we will be "comfortable" for many years to come. It is in the old Swansea Town Hall, located in the Windermere Avenue - Bloor Street West district. The price is absolutely right, and the location is decent for transit riders as well as drivers. Please see the sheet of di rections included with this issue, and retain it for future reference. May seems a long time ago, but we must say how much all those present enjoy ed member Clive Dudley's programme on the restored tug JAMES WHALEN. * * * * * * * ISSN 0318-014X
