David Bull will present an illustrated programme featuring the ships of the Soo River Company. This show promises to be a winner. * * * * * * * THE EDITOR'S LOGBOOK Surprise, Surprise! Starting last year, we decided not to produce a Janu ary issue of "Scanner" so that the Editor would not have to spend his Christmas holidays slaving over a hot keyboard. And yet here we are with a January issue. A bit of an explanation would seem to be in order. During the last few days of November, just as the December issue was being put together, your Editor suddenly began to feel quite ill, for no apparent reason. On the 27th, after an emergency trip across Toronto Harbour in the police boat, we wound up in St. Michael's Hospital where it eventually was determined that a severely infected kidney was the culprit. The kidney was removed successfully, and on December 12 we were discharged home, where recovery has been progressing under the watchful supervision of Dr. Coman che, resident feline, who has made sure that all of the rules and instruc tions are followed. We are not yet back to work and are concentrating on getting better, but the material we had been preparing for the December issue was almost com pleted and so we thought that a project to finish it and create a small Editor Jay N.
