A New Line of Mail Boats - We have been requested to state, that another Line of Steamers will be placed upon the route between Kingston and the head of the Lake, next spring. The knowledge of this fact may be very useful just now, when Merchants and others are negotiating for their spring freight. We have long been of opinion, that two Lines of good Lake Boats are needed for a morning and evening Line; and we hope that no unwholesome competition will lower charges below a remunerating rate. The people are no gainers by ruinous prices, for the opposition is sure at length to cease, and then, they have to pay for their cheap rides. If a moderate tariff be established by mutual agreement between the two Lines, the travel will be increased, and all parties be satisfied.

Beware of the Ice - The master of a schooner lying in the Harbor was drowned this morning, by jumping off his vessel on to the ice. He went through bodily, in harbour and drowns.

The Weather - has been frosty since our last, and the ice has at length taken across to Long Island...
