The Regatta - The Managing Committee of the Provincial Association have announced, in their grande affiche, that a Regatta will wind up the Shows and Sports at the Agricultural Meeting in September. But although this has been announced, yet, unless the patrons and admirers of Aquatic Amusements contribute liberally, in the shape of private subscriptions, towards the Regatta, it will be wholly impossible to carry into effect the announcement. The Managing Committee will not feel themselves authorized to divert any large portion of the funds placed at their disposal from their more legitimate use; although, perhaps, to encourage the art of boat building, they may offer one or two Prizes for competition. Therefore, those who are desirous of seeing this projected Regatta go forward in a manner worthy of Kingston and its noble waters, will do well to bestir themselves, and when they have done their utmost in the way of raising money, to communicate the result to the Managing Committee, who, we feel persuaded, will then materially assist them, but not otherwise.
