TO STEAM-BOAT OWNERS.
Sealed Tenders, addressed to the Undersigned, will be received at this Office until Friday, the 15th March next, for parties willing to Contract for placing on the River St. Lawrence a Line of not less than Three Steam Tugs, capable of performing all the Towing required on those portions of the River between the Canals from Lachine to Kingston.
Three of the Vessels will be required to be in readiness at the opening of the Canals, and to continue, and be in good working order, from that period until the close of the Navigation, in the respective years for which the Contract may be made; and should the Trade at any period require a further number of Tugs, the contractors will be bound to furnish such additional number as the Department of Public Works shall require; in order that no vessel may be detained for more than twelve hours at any station.
The Boats to ply between Dickenson's Landing and Prescott, to be of not less than sixty horse power, and those for the remainder of the Line, not less than forty-five.
Not more than the rates mentioned in the following Tariff, will be allowed to be collected from the Trade.

The persons Tendering, are to state the amount of bonus, if any, which they may require from the Government, in addition to the rates mentioned in the above Schedule, for the periods of one, three, five or ten years.
