p.2 Sault Ste. Marie Canal - editorial - Canada Gazette has notice of application for incorporation of Company to construct a Ship Canal past Sault Ste. Marie - should be in hands of Government.

Our readers will doubtless recollect the disaster to the St. Lawrence steamer, which was sunk in Lake St. Francis very late this fall. We are glad to find that the efforts of our enterprising friend, Mr. A. Cantin, to raise her have proved successful, and that he has, notwithstanding the difficulties presented by the ice, brought her to Montreal. She now lies opposite Mr. Cantin's ship-yard, preparatory to being hauled out in the patent slip for repairs and wintering.

To Contractors - tenders called for repairs at Beauharnois Canal - Dept. of Public Works, Dec. 6th, 1851.
