This is one of a few postcards with roughly the same scene. The passenger ferry in the postcard is the "Argyle", which had Bowmanville as a stopping point in its route back then.

The "Preston L." noted on the front of that postcard was Preston L. Tait, son of the photographer of the picture on the postcard, Henry C. Tait.

Preston Tait died some years ago after relocating to the west coast of Canada.
