p.8 Surveying The Shoals - Last week cadets of the Royal Military College surveyed the shoal upon which the propeller Myles struck and sustained serious damage. A copy of their chart will be placed in the Whig office for inspection. We learn that a survey will be made of a dangerous shoal below Cedar Island. This service by the cadets cannot be too highly commended by the people in general and by the mariners in particular.

Incidents Of The Day - Eight steamers will run on the Chicago and Ogdensburg line next year.

Rathbun & Co. will light the steam barge Resolute with electricity next season.

The owner of the burned prop. Nipigon is effecting a settlement with the insurance companies. It is probable the boat will be rebuilt this winter.
