The sloop Laura D. is here light from Cape Vincent.

The schr. Muir, of Toledo, is discharging timber at Garden Island.

The schr. White Oak has cleared for Charlotte, light, to load coal.

The str. Chieftain arrived at Garden Island last evening from Charlotte.

The str. Tecumseh with a raft from Luddington to Collinsby passed Port Colborne.

The str. Pilgrim arrived this morning from Charlotte with about 100 passengers.

Capt. Thomas Jackman, of the str. John Hanlan, was fined $50 and costs at Toronto, last week, for overloading.

The schr. Hanlan is on the ways at K. & M. forwarding company's yard, Portsmouth, and will receive an entirely new stern.

The schr. British Queen, with coal from the Rathbun Company, while bound for Belleville on Sunday last, had her fore-top mast carried away during the gale.

The following passed Port Dalhousie yesterday for Kingston: str. Algonquin, Duluth, wheat; schr. Wawanosh, Detroit, timber; schr. M.C. Cameron, Manistee, timber.

The schrs. P.B. Locke and M.I. Downing, with wheat from the union elevator at Toledo, were short 84 and 86 bushels respectively on about 18,000 bushel cargoes on discharging at Buffalo.

It was not generally known that before the elevated railroads were built in N.Y. City, the str. Sylvan Stream made regular trips between 125th street and Fulton St. in the East River.

Death on Board a Ship - James Allen, second engineer on str. Chieftain, died on board of peritonitis, had been employed by Calvin Co. for over 20 years.
