BY-LAW No. 38
Providing for taking Stock in the Wolfe Island Railway and Canal Company - Passed 4th December, 1851.
Be it enacted by the Municipal Council of the United Counties of Frontenac, Lennox and Addington,
I. - That this Council will subscribe in the Stock of the WOLFE ISLAND RAILWAY & CANAL COMPANY, to the amount of ONE THOUSAND POUNDS.
II - That Debentures shall be issued of the denomination of £25, bearing legal interest, payable half-yearly, to the amount of the aforesaid sum of £1000; made payable to the Treasurer of the said Company, and redeemable as follows: £200 on the first of January in each of the years 1857, 1858, 1859, 1860 and 1861.
III - That prior to the foregoing provisions of this By-Law going into operation, it shall be the duty of each Township Municipal Council, to lay a copy of the same before the Electors of the said Township respectively, for their assent, in accordance with the provisions of the 14th and 15th Victoria, Chapter 51, Section 18. And that it shall be the duty of the Town Reeve thereupon to certify to this Council, through the County Clerk, such action as may have been taken thereon by the Electors of such Township respectively.
IV - That this By-Law be forthwith published in Newspapers, in accordance with law.
