p.2 Wolfe Island Canal - We are happy to learn that a number of gentlemen from this city having had a meeting with several of the promoters of the Rome and Cape Vincent Railway, on the other side, it has been arranged to raise the means necessary for the construction of the Wolfe Island Canal by a joint subscription, that the canal is to be undertaken as a part of the railway scheme, and the stock subscribed for on its account is to be considered as railway stock. It will be seen from the By-law published in our advertising columns that the county council intend subscribing £1000, and it is to be hoped that the City Council will follow the example which has thus been set.
