p.2 Marine Disaster - The schooner Annawan, which left Oswego on Monday last, capsized when about fifty miles out, and all on board perished. The schooner was owned in Oswego.

It is in contemplation by the people of Picton to put on a "crack" boat between Kingston and Picton. A public meeting with this object in view was held on Thursday, 17th instant, when it was proposed to open a stock book for a subscription of £5,000 - 500 shares of £10 each. Mr. Swetman is engaged in getting up a subscription. Messrs. Lowe, Ross, Miller, Mortimer, Donelly, and Swetman, were appointed a provisional committee. The proposed boat is to have an "average speed of not less than 15 miles an hour."
