p.2 The Cherokee - We were informed on Saturday that the steamship Cherokee, disposed of some time since by the Naval department to Capt. Gaskin and others, and now in Boston Harbour, has been sold to the Peruvian Government for the sum of $65,000.

For the News.

Mr. Editor - When you penned the article about Harbor Surveys in Thursday's News, I suppose you were not aware that Mr. Scobie of Toronto had published a very useful Chart of Lake Ontario from surveys by Capt. Owen, R.N., Lieut. Herbert, R.N., and Lieut. Ford, U.S.N. By this Chart, any Skipper who understands his business can navigate his vessel so as to avoid all the shoals and dangerous places to be found on the Lake, its Bays, Harbors, etc. These charts are for sale at Mr. Palmer's Book Store in this City.

March 12th. ONTARIO.
