p.2 The following is a copy of the address to Capt. P.G. Chrysler of the New Era, to which we alluded on Friday:-

To Capt. Chrysler of the Steamer New Era,

We, the undersigned passengers in the steamer New Era, avail ourselves of this occasion to tender to you our cordial thanks, no less for the urbanity and attention shown to us as well by yourself as by those under your charge, rendering the passage from Montreal an exceedingly agreeable one, than for the promptness with which you acceded to the desire expressed by many of us, who were exposed to the disappointment of a delay in remaining in Montreal until Monday night had you decided to return to Kingston. We sincerely trust that this the first visit of the New Era to Quebec will result in producing an arrangement which will benefit the public equally with the enterprising proprietor of the boat.

Steamer New Era, near Quebec, Sept. 3rd, 1854

(signed by more than thirty passengers, many of them M.P.P.'s)
