p.2 The St. Catherines Journal of the 5th inst. says: Last month was the busiest one the canal ever experienced. 605 vessels passed through of which 312 were American and 293 Canadian. In one day, the 18th, 50 vessels were passed through the lock at which our lists are made up, lock #3. 37, we think, was the most ever got through in any one day before. The increase is in the number of Canadian vessels, between which and the American there is not near the disparity existing but a few years ago.
