p.2 Loss of the Hope and Crescent - From the Milwaukie Wisconsin, we learn of the wreck and loss of the following vessels. The schooner Hope, owned by Bruce & Mills, of Buffalo, went ashore last Wednesday, at Beaver Island Harbor, and is a total wreck. She was loaded with wheat and was insured for $15,600.

The schooner Crescent is ashore below the Manitou Islands. She has a cargo of 400 tons of Merchandise, and will prove a total loss. She is owned by R. Meadowcraft of Chicago, and is insured in the Chicago Mutual, for $6,000.

The propeller Nile is also badly damaged and a portion of her cargo of flour was stove in. [Chicago Citizen]
