p.2 Jenny Lind damages 2 lock gates in Beauharnois Canal

-three men drown on Lake Erie, boat upsets while heading for Goderich with load of shingles. [Detroit Tribune]

p.3 Imports - 14,16; Exports - 14.

Marine News - The brig Adriatic, which got on Spectacle Reef, about a week since, arrived at Detroit on Saturday in tow of the tug Oswego, and with a pump on board. Her cargo of wheat was but little damaged.

The New York Central Railroad propeller Rocket, of the Cleveland line, and Equator, of the Sandusky line, have been laid up for want of business.

The steamer Bay State, Captain Ledyard, made her last trip to Oswego for the season. It is the general opinion that the Ontario and Cataract will lay up soon.

Ashore - The captain of the propeller Kentucky reports a large black fore-and-after ashore just below Old Mackinac Point. [Detroit Tribune, 12th]

Another - The schooner Morning Light, of Chicago, and bound from Oswego to Detroit with 400 barrels of salt, run ashore high and dry in the fog at Point au Pelee early Saturday morning. The tugs Relief and Rescue have both gone to her relief. [ib.]

Aground - The schooner Mary Morton, from Erie, with a load of coal for Chicago, is aground at the foot of Fighting Island. A tug has gone down to her. [ib.]

The schooner Uncle Tom arrived this morning from Oswego with 1500 barrels of salt for Catlin & Irwin. The schooner C.N. Johnson also arrived with 800 barrels of salt for G.O. Williams & Co. [ib.]
