p.2 Toronto - At the City Council last evening a petition signed by every vessel owner and Captain at this port was presented praying that steps may be taken to prevent the destruction of the east end of the harbour. The petition proposed that the channel be very considerably deepened, and that the piers be constructed so as to strengthen its sides. The petition stated that in 1811 the channel was 1427 feet wide, while now it was only 230.
