p.2 Marine News - a long series of accidents (for complete version see Whig, Nov. 27th)

-The ship Rocket, with a cargo of 20,000 bushels of wheat, from Chicago to Buffalo, came in collision with the barque Ocean Wave, on Lake Huron on Monday night, and sunk in deep water. Ship and cargo are a total loss, fully insured. The Ocean Wave received very little injury.

-sch. Tarrynot struck by sea under stern and wheelsman killed by pieces of sternboat.

Close of Lake Navigation - last year on 29th Nov.; probably 2 weeks longer this year. [Chicago Democrat]
