p.1 Grain Trade of North-West - need to improve canals.

p.2 Gale On the Upper Lakes - A despatch from Chicago, of Monday's date, says that intelligence from from the eastern shore of Lake Michigan states that the schooner Farriner was capsized off New Buffalo. All hands are reported lost. The crew consisted of four or five men. Two other persons were on board of the vessel. The schooners Helen, Kent and Mushroom were ashore in that vicinity.

p.3 harbor at Cleveland is clear of ice.
