p.2 The Welland Canal was opened on Monday for navigation. The St. Lawrence canals are expected to be open by the 1st of May.

Not Gone Yet - The steamer Pierrepont did not start yesterday, but it is probable she will attempt to get through the ice today or tomorrow. Last year she made her first trip on the 14th. Capt. Gaskin's barque, the British Lion, is ready for a start, and will proceed on her voyage as soon as an opening is made by the Pierrepont.

p.3 Messrs. Chaffey Brothers ' propeller Brockville was to have been launched at Brockville Saturday.
