p.2 Police Court - Daniel Donoghue, the Lessee of the Market tolls, preferred a charge against John Campbell, a dealer in wood, for refusing to pay toll upon the wood brought to the city in his several vessels, according to their tonnage, under the new market by-law. Mr. Campbell said that his refusal to pay was to test that clause of the By-law which imposes tolls on vessels arriving with wood. His Worship the Mayor, who presided, imposed a fine of $10 on Mr. Campbell, who appealed to the Recorder's Court.
