p.2 Portsmouth - This ambitious little quasi appendage of the city seems bound to go ahead. It has long been noted for the large amount of repairs which were quietly done there to vessels during the winter and spring months. Latterly, however, it has become famous for shipbuilding; and now, determined to keep pace with its general progress, and to supply the increasing wants of the place, the Clerk advertises for tenders for the erection of a Town Hall "and other buildings," which the municipality considers necessary for the growing importance of the village. It is always a pleasure to make a special note of these improvements.

The Empress - The steamer Empress having undergone the necessary repairs consequent on her late collision with the Banshee, left again last night for Rochester for the purpose of being put upon th route between that place and Cobourg.
