p.2 Vessel For Port Natal, in South Africa - A new brigantine, the Sea Gull of Oakville, is loading lumber at Mr. G.H. Wyatt's wharf, for Port Natal, coast of Africa. This cargo was intended to have been shipped last fall by the Mary Roe, but owing to that vessel getting ashore near Toronto, it remained here until the charter of the Sea Gull. The cargo consists of red pine boards of various thicknesses, sugar boxes, some new buggies, and other kinds of Canadian manufacture, and is the pioneer of what we hope to see grow up into a large trade. The Sea Gull is owned by Captain F. Jackman and William Ross, of Toronto, and is chartered for the sum of $9,000 for the round trip. She will bring back, as a return cargo, sugar from the Mauritius, and the voyage is expected to take seven months' time. Captain Jackman goes out in command of the vessel. [Globe]
