p.2 The Oswego Palladium states that a fire took place on Wednesday on board the Northern Transportation Company's propeller Prairie State. A large number of passengers were on board at the time, but all landed on the dock safely.

- Green Island Light, Lake Erie, has been rebuilt and a fourth order lens placed upon its tower, which will be lighted for the first time on the night of the first of July next, showing an elevation of 57 feet above the lake level, a fixed white light varied by white flashes which will occur at intervals of two minutes. The fixed white light heretofore in use will be discontinued on the introduction of the new light.
