p.2 Grain For Chicago - The barque Valetta is now loading at Anderson & Ford's wharf, with barley for Chicago. Although grains are frequently and freely shipped for the Western States from Toronto and Hamilton, the present is the first shipment from this city to Chicago.

Wreck of the W.H. Merritt - Goderich, Oct. 16th - The schooner W.H. Merritt was wrecked last Wednesday night, at Cove Island, 120 miles north of here. No lives lost. Sixteen thousand bushels of corn, from Chicago for Collingwood, will likely prove a total loss. Vessel insured. Don't know about cargo.
