p.2 Laying Up - The steamer Bay State went down last night on her last trip, and will make her last trip upwards tomorrow.

More High Wind - A very high wind and sea were on last night from the northwest, and continued nearly all day today. The mail steamer downwards reached here at her usual hour this morning, and occasional sailing craft have been coming into the harbor with their sails closely reefed during the whole of the day or stopping at Garden Island with their cargoes.

The steamer Grecian which left here last evening reached Toronto all right.
