LAUNCH. - The new schooner Independence was launched at Manwarring's landing near the mouth of the Salmon River on the 15th instant, precisely at the minute previously appointed. Although it was but a miniature representation of what is sometimes witnessed at some of our Navy Yards, yet it collected nearly a thousand persons who with eager gaze saw her glide gently and safely into her destined element, accompanied with music &c. as is usual on such occasions. The Independence is of a beautiful model rating 70 tons, and does much credit to Mr. Beaupree, her master builder and also to her enterprising owner Mr. Hiram Page of this town. We understand she is to be immediately fitted for service and will start on her first trip for Sandusky early in May.
