p.2 Immigrants For the West - 360 Norwegian immigrants on str. Spartan.

Collision On the Bay of Quinte - Mill Point, Aug. 1st - A steamboat collision took place here about 8 o'clock this morning. As the steamer John Greenway was coming into the wharf from Picton, the steamer Bay of Quinte struck her hard on the port bow, causing her to take water rapidly. She was drawn into four feet of water and sunk. Her passengers were got off safely. Damage about $1,000; insured for $2,000. The Bay of Quinte passed down without injury.

Will be sold, at the office of the undersigned auctioneers, St. Peter Street, in the city of Montreal, on Friday, the 14th day of August instant, the well-known Propeller Avon, as she now lies in the Harbour of Kingston, where applications may be made to Mr. John Keys; with all her Machinery, Furniture, Tackle, and appurtenances.


The well-known propeller Indian, as she now lies at Proctor's Wharf, Hamilton, where application may be made; with all her Machinery, Furniture, Tackle, and appurtenances.

The above named Propellers are, with their machinery, in good order and condition, and may be fitted for running in a few days at small expense.

With the present prospect of abundant freight for this description of craft, any purchaser may depend on a large return for his outlay before the end of the season.

Terms liberal - Sale at Ten o'clock.
