p.2 City Council - The report of the Committee on Wharves and Harbour was brought up by Alderman H. Cunningham, but subsequently withdrawn. It had reference especially to a communication received at a previous meeting of the Council, from Col. Glanville, respecting the removal of the sunken scows near the Tete du Pont barracks, and the filling in of the bay. The general opinion of the Council appeared to be that it would be more advantageous for the city to give up its lease held from the War Department than to incur any further expense in the matter. The sunken barges were there, it was stated, prior to the time of the city's leasing from the Department.
