p.1 City Council - A petition was handed in by Alderman Chown from the Kingston Sabbath Reformation Society, praying the interference of the Council with the custom practiced by the steamers of the Inland Navigation Company of loading and unloading cargo at the wharves of the city on Sunday contrary to statute.

Alderman Gildersleeve considered that the Council could not interfere, as it was not their business. The parties complaining, if the law had been violated, should lay an information of the fact and get a stop put to the practice. The petition, he said, was out of order. - referred to committee to report.
