p.2 The Ice Trade - Several vessels are at present being filled with ice for the Western market, and still the demand is on the increase. Four vessels are also taking in the same description of cargo at Garden Island. Reports state that Lake Erie is comparatively clear of ice, and a person who had proceeded to Brockville with a view to loading ice at that port, returned last evening, and states that the sound ice in that vicinity is not over five inches thick. In Kingston the solid marketable ice taken out now comprises a thickness of fifteen inches.
