p.2 Accident On The Rideau Canal - Breakage of Two Locks and Loss of Life - tug Frances with four barges in tow was passing through Jones's Falls locks; barge Algoma broke through several gates.

The Steamer Champion - Cobourg, July 15th - The steamer Champion in a heavy fog ran ashore this morning about 2 o'clock at Grimshaw's Point, about three miles east of here. No apparent damage done. The steamer Norseman went to her assistance. There being no sea on she got off easily about 9 o'clock this morning, and left here for Toronto about 10 o'clock.
