p.2 Montreal, Aug. 24th - The steamer Grecian is being rapidly dismantled.

Shipping News - Swift & Co's wharf - The steamer St. Helen touched on her downward trip last night. The steamer City of Ottawa, from Ottawa, arrived this morning, and left again this afternoon to return.

J.H. Henderson & Co's wharf - The barge Lyre, light, arrived last night, and the barge Lion this morning with scrap iron from Montreal.

The schooner Defiance, Capt. Lenon, from Brockville to Oswego with lumber, passed the port this morning.

Garden Island - No arrivals. Cleared - Bark Gibraltar, schs. Rutherford, Ontario, all for Welland Canal, light.
