p.2 Canal Improvements - The government asks a vote of $460,000 for the following canal improvements, viz:- Towards raising the banks of the Welland Canal - $200,000; Towards enlargement of the Grenville Canal locks - $150,000; Towards improving the channel of the River St. Lawrence between Kingston and Montreal - $100,000; Completion of survey of Sault Ste. Marie canal - $10,000.

Belleville, April 7th - Navigation is now open on the Bay of Quinte. The steamer Rochester arrived here last night from Kingston, and left this morning on her regular trips. The steamer Picton is also expected to commence running to Oswego next week.
