Night And Day
Introduction

The great burst of enthusiasm for postcards at the beginning of the twentieth century co-incided with a revival of interest in day and "moonlight" excursions around the Great Lakes and Saint Lawrence River.

In the absence of commercially viable colour photography, many photographs were tinted before being printed up as postcards. If you are going to colour a picture to reflect a daytime cruise, you could just as easily turn it into an illustration of a "moonlight" lovers cruise.

This is a small exhibit of postcards where you can examine the photographs in their various guises.
