p.2 We are pleased to see that Messrs. Calvin & Breck have again obtained the contract for performing the tug service.

N.T.C. - Mr. George A. Smith, general passenger agent for the Northern Transportation Company, was in the city today arranging for the opening of the spring business. Present prospects point to an active season among shippers and forwarders.

Reporting Vessels - For the benefit of vessel owners and masters, notices have been received here, stating that the matter of compensation for reporting vessels passing Detroit during the season of 1872 will be done away with, as the Detroit and Chicago papers will perform such work without the expense of reporters receiving payment from these sources. To effect this it is hoped vessel masters whose vessels have not the name on the quarter will show their Barjee to aid in obtaining the name.

Toronto, April 10th - a schooner at Queen's wharf, City of Toronto to start on Monday.

-str. Norseman left Port Hope on Tuesday for Charlotte.
