p.2 Steamer Pierrepont - This fine steamer, which has been newly painted and renovated for the season's trade, made her first trip to Wolfe Island today. She accomplished the passage without any apparent difficulty, and we feel satisfied that had the attempt been made a couple of days since the voyage could have been performed with equal safety. It is the intention to start for Cape Vincent on Monday. Once broken the ice will soon move out of this harbour.

Changed Hands - The steamer Norfolk, now in Kingston, and which ran last year between the city, Gananoque and Clayton, has been purchased by Captain Porte, formerly owner of the steamer John Greenway, burned at Picton last autumn, and she is to be placed on the route between Belleville and Trenton.

Canadian Navigation Company - Royal Mail Line - The steamers belonging to this company will commence their regular trips on the 1st May. The Spartan will proceed to Prescott on Monday morning, the 29th April, and on Tuesday afternoon will return on her way to Toronto and Hamilton - see advertisement. On Tuesday morning the Corinthian will proceed to Prescott and return on Wednesday, proceeding westward. The Spartan will return on Friday morning, 3rd May, and the Corinthian on Saturday, 4th, en route for Montreal.

Meeting of the Board of Trade - A. Livingston, President - ..."A communication from the Board of Trade of St. Catharines requested our Board to memorialize Parliament to passs an act during the present session for the establishment of a system of weather signals and stations at all suitable points in this Dominion, on a plan similar to and working in conjunction with that of the adjoining country."...;committee on improvement of harbour to give report at next meeting.
