p.2 Marine News

Messrs. Coulthurst and Macphie's wharf - The schooner Gearing, from Toronto, 3,136 bushels of wheat and 3,202 bushels of corn, has arrived. No departures.

Montreal Transportation Company's wharf - Arrivals - Schooners G.H. Mixer, from Chicago, 18,720 bushels of corn; Almeda, Toledo, 14,100 bushels of do.; M.L. Collins, Toledo, 13,500 bushels of do.; Cohen, Toledo, 13,100 bushels of do. The tug Bronson, with six barges in tow, reached here yesterday afternoon, and departed in the evening for Montreal with the following barges: McCarthy, 14,800 bushels of corn; Guide, 6,000 bushels of corn and 145 barrels of pork; Index, 7,650 bushels of corn; Energy, 12,860 bushels of do.; Guard, 6,512 bushels of do and 105 barrels of pork.

Messrs. James Swift & Co.'s wharf - The steamers Magnet and Picton passed down this morning. The propeller Scotia up on Sunday evening.

New Admiralty Rules - The rules adopted by the Supreme Court of the United States have been recently changed, and so amended as to give increased security and a better remedy in all cases where supplies, repairs and other necessaries are furnished to vessels. The rule, as it formerly stood, gave a lien only where the vessel was owned in another State, or in a foreign country; but as it now stands the remedy against the vessel is given regardless of her ownership.

Schr. John Magee, Chicago, M.T. Co., 19,250 bush corn.

Schr. H.N. Todman, Port Dalhousie, M.T. Co., 7,486 bush corn.
