Rideau Canal, Kingston Mills - We learn from a visitor that the damage to the lock arises from a defective foundation in the original construction, half of the lock being on rock, and half on soft bottom, made up to meet the wants of the case. The Government have provided themselves in a very short time with a pumping engine and first class pump, which emptied the lock in five hours, and having a strong gang of men at work night and day, we have no doubt that it will be pushed with the utmost dispatch.
