p.1 The harbours of refuge building by the Dominion Government at Rond Eau on Lake Erie, and Goderich on Lake Huron, are progressing favourably. It is doubtful if either of them will be so far advanced as to be capable of any protection to vessels this season. Both, however, are important undertakings which will be appreciated by the shipping interest.

Steam Whistles - ladies complaining of discordancy, and they are sounded too long.
Navigation - The steamers Passport and Osprey touched at Messrs. James Swift & Co's wharf yesterday on their way to Hamilton and Toronto; and the steamers Magnet and Athenian, and propeller Scotia and Bristol down for Montreal. The steamer Louisa arrived from and departed for Ottawa, carrying a large cargo of general freight both ways.
The Regatta - meeting held on Monday night, to take up subscriptions to provide purses.
