The gale on the lake last night was the means of keeping back a number of vessels bound outwards, and is also preventing tugs arriving with barges. The arrivals, however, were not large, as most of the vessels are now on the other side of the canal.

Coulthurst & McPhie's wharf - Montauk, Milwaukee, 21,460 bush. wheat; prop. Lake Ontario lightened 4,500 bush. wheat; Winona, Milwaukee, 21,075 bush. wheat; S. & J. Collier, Cleveland, 10,033 bush. wheat.

Montreal Transportation Company's wharf - J. Bigler, Chicago, 22,184 bush. wheat; the tug Elfin arrived with six barges, and left with Cleveland, 8,251 bush. wheat; Advance, 13,200 bush. wheat; Portland, 10,350 bush. wheat; Milwaukee, 22,906 bush. wheat; and Alfred, 13,328 bush. wheat.

James Swift & Co.'s wharf - The props. Indian and Calabria passed up, and the steamers Picton and Corsican up, and Passport down.

Port Colborne, Sept. 12th - Down: prop. Ocean, brigs Florence, Emery, R. Perry, Ayr, Sarah Jane, Josephine, prop. Persia, schrs. Albacore, New Dominion of Quebec, Nett Woodward, New Dominion of Toronto, W.B. Phelps, bark Cavalier.

Up: schrs. Champlain, Rockaway, Rathbun, Havana, Sky Lark, Gallatin, Jamaica, Itasca, Augusta, Bessie Barwick, Tradewind, J.R. Benson, prop. Scotia, schrs. Howland, M.F. Merrick, Craftsman, Melrose, H.W. Hoag, D.M. Foster, Agnes Hope, Dan Lyons.
