p.3 The Steamer D.C. West - We believe it is intended to make the steamer D.C. West a stock boat. The merchants in Westport, Newboro, Seeley's Bay, and Portland having long felt the necessity of having proper communication with Kingston, have decided to take stock and thus secure a permanent means of transfer for both freight and passengers to and from Kingston. The West is being lengthened 15 feet, new cabin, etc., added, and when complete will be a great boon to shippers, merchants, and the public generally, both in Kingston and the Rideau Canal ports.
